Security Help Desk Support

Job Description

This role is part of the NGUKL Security Team and will be based at specific offices of Northrop Grumman. The job role is to act as a security subject matter expert, being the first point of communications between the NGUKL customers, employees and the Security Team for routine security advice and incident reporting.  The role will also secure the physical access to the selected locations in Northrop Grumman and provide surge admin support to the UK Security Manager.

This role requires extensive security experience and is hands on, requiring involvement in security issues on an hourly/daily basis. Shift working will be required aspart of the role. Some out of hours working may be required.

Job Requirements

  • During Office hours, operate the 'Ask Security' email account and telephone number in order to provide routine and emergency physical and information secruity advice to NGUKL employees. Maintain and respond to security incident tickets.
  • Be fully conversant on NGUKL security, crisis management and business recovery procedures and NG corporate command media for security
  • Leverage extensive personal and commercial experience in security, in order to provide high quality advice and support to NGUKL customers and employees.
  • To control access at designated sites, issuing visitor/contractor security passes and ensure records of visitors are maintained in accordance with the client and internal requirements.
  • To respond and react to any incidents or security issues that may arise, via all communication methods.
  • To assist with the security of the designated NGUKL offices.
  • To control security access to approved personnel to restricted areas as required, including giving briefings.
  • Visitor control.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the Access Control systems. To be able to secure the premises and the setting and un-setting of alarms as specified in the site specific instructions
  • Issue and maintain an identity card database in line with the security controller’s instructions.
  • Exceptionally, perform out of hour’s duties, with a view to supporting access control, Emergency Action Plans (EAP) and Business Response and Recovery (BRR) Plans.
  • Be a first aider.
  • To actively assist in weekly fire alarm tests.
  • Provide security admin duties as required by the UK Security Manager.
  • Act as key holder.
  • Security escorting on an ad hoc basis in support of the site security team.
How you will make a difference

We are looking for somebody 

  • Who has demonstrable experience as a security officer or security administrator in the UK.
  • Formal certification in security. 
  • Must be able to gain and maintain government security clearance at the highest  level.
  • Honest with a strong character, able to deal with security issues in a balanced and effective manner.
  • Calm and effective under pressure.
  • Excellent communication skills, and with a strong customer focus.
  • Intermediate level PC skills (MS Office).
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred (although not essential) criteria;

  • Military or Police background.
  • Hold or obtain a First aid certificate
  • GCSE or equivalent in English
  • GCSE or equivalent in IT

Additional information

Must be good at time keeping and able to self-motivate. Accept long periods of operating alone without supervision and maintain high levels of morale.
