Mission Assurance QMS Controller (MAQC)

Job Description

Have you got experience of working within Quality in an Aviation environment? Our Defense Systems division of Northrop Grumman is seeking a Mission Assurance (MA) Quality Management System Controller (MAQC) to join our team in Lincolnshire.

The role is to assist the Mission Assurance Manager by controlling and coordinating the delivery functions that underpin the Northrop Grumman (NG) Whole Life Support Programme (WLSP) Quality Management System (QMS).  The QMS and maintaining compliance to ISO9001:2015/AS9110C, is a key deliverable of the WLSP contract and vital in ensuring effective policy, processes and management are applied to all aspects of the Programme.  The MAQC role provides the assurance that all activities required for the effective management, delivery and reporting of the QMS, such as Document Management, Corrective Actions, Audits, Continuous Improvements and Risks are being appropriately conducted in the technically challenging and complex contractual construct of the WLSP.  In addition to the QMS, the MAQC is required to control and report on NG WLSP Risk and Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) activities.

The MAQC role acts as a link between the Mission Assurance Process Assurance Team and the Mission Assurance Manager.

 Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • The day-day planning and monitoring of the Document Management System
  • Conducting internal and external Quality Audits
  • Quality Occurrence Reporting
  • Leading Continuous Improvement events and Risk Management activities.
  • Conducting quality and technical investigations and delivering engineering and process assurance recommendations.
  • The MAQC will be empowered to determine appropriate courses of action to deal with quality, technical and EH&S issues as they arise
  • Developing excellent working relationships with internal functional areas, customers and subcontractor QMS management teams. 
  • Duties include representing the Mission Assurance Manager by attending, and in some cases chairing, internal and external Quality Assurance meetings
  • Providing specialist QMS and technical related advice to senior managers and escalating issues to the Mission Assurance Manager in a timely manner.

Essential Requirements:
  • Ability to apply extensive ISO9001:2015 and or AS9110C QMS knowledge and experience of leading quality management activities including Audits and Corrective Action Reporting.
  • Technical background, preferably in the military aviation industry. 
  • Knowledge of MAA DAOS/MAOS regulations.
  • Ability to prioritise your own work and the work of others. 
  • Experience in coordinating and supervising complex multiple outputs with minimum direction.
  • Ability to apply ingenuity and creativity to both quality and technical problems.
  • Experience of Risk Management processes.
  • Experience conducting quality and technical investigations and delivering engineering and process assurance recommendations.
  • Confident and articulate oral and written communicator.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to attain MOD Security Clearance (SC).
  • Self motivated, capable coordinators with an ability to meet deadlines.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Experience of Continuous Improvement events
  • Proficient operator of MS Office, esp MS Office, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • In depth knowledge of RAF700 documentation and MAA aircraft document set (ADS)
