This key role reports into the Business Development Director and will drive all elements of business development and support capture management for Northrop Grumman’s Maritime ISR and Cyber and Intelligence campaigns, and both the Royal Navy and Joint Forces Command (JFC) accounts.

How you will make a difference

As Business Development Manager, you will work closely with the Corporate BD leads(s) to develop strategies and market opportunities within the UK and Europe, focusing on the maritime environment and those capabilities relevant to the Royal Navy and JFC customers, including military intelligence.

You’ll also assist in the development of a Long Range Strategic Plan for the UK and Europe Defence market(s), establishing the appropriate business cases to justify sector commitment and investments, prioritising as appropriate to ensure the corporation is focused upon establishing high probability business wins with maximum returns and customer longevity.

In addition, your contribution will encompass:

  • Developing specific day-to-day relationships with UK and European domain stakeholders in collaboration with the Sector Client / Account Manager.
  • Working with the wider BD team to ensure that capability synergies and market leverage are maximised between domains and across countries
  • Leveraging our incumbent customer position to maximise organic growth and returns, working closely with the Programme Delivery team(s) where necessary
  • Maximising the leverage from the European CSR and International Consultants (IC)
  • Being the JFC environment point of contact in the region.

What you’ll be doing

To drive Business Development effectively and efficiently within maritime, the Royal Navy and JFC, you will:

  • Build positive relationships with the sector/division/OU account /client manager(s)
  • Achieve, if not exceed, the allocated annual financial awards targets
  • Nurture trusted and collaborative relationships with the US divisions and NGC’s onshore footprint to understand the company’s product and service offerings, determining the opportunities in the UK & European market for these products and services, and developing appropriate value propositions
  • Identify and manage financial resources appropriate for the assigned domain, working with Business Operations to plan resource needs and control expenditures
  • Manage pipeline growth and appropriate pursuit prioritisation within the business to ensure that the domain has a well-balanced portfolio and accurate workbench entries
  • Implement robust and highly effective customer management to proactively market our products and capabilities, growing account revenues, profits and customer satisfaction in the UK & European market
  • Develop effective collaborations and relationships with a range of industrial partners to ensure the company’s internal capabilities are enhanced
  • Provide clear, concise and value-added management reports in support of executive meeting planning / briefing, MARCOMMS, training, etc., in collaboration with the BD Operations team
  • Deliver regular and effective domain new business and pipeline reviews
  • Provide leadership and oversight across all levels of business acquisition as appropriate:
  • Engage in or lead pursuit qualification and maturation (customer contact)
  • Participate in capture and proposal activity
  • Contribute to growth strategy development
  • Deliver organic growth of core business.

If you also possess solid experience in product, service and solution selling within the defence, security and government related industry, of managing UK and international business development portfolios (£10M up to £100M), this would definitely be an advantage.
