Subcontracts Officer

This role works to protect the commercial interests of the Company’s business in the management of all current and future partner and subcontractor engagements on a high value and strategically important programme.   


How you will make a difference

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify suitable suppliers for procured items and services, and suitable alternative sources of supply where required

  • Ensure that all identified suppliers are appropriately vetted so that they may be added to the Company’s Approved Suppliers List

  • Evaluate supplier proposals against objective criteria to down-select those offering maximum compliance against requirements at best value

  • Work closely with the Sub-Contracts Manager to establish trading and pricing agreements, and negotiate with suppliers to best enhance the competiveness and profitability of the company

  • Contribute to the development and promotion of positive and mutually-beneficial relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors

  • Prepare and support negotiation of sub-contracts

  • Engage in the tender processes operated on programme sub-contracts to enable on-time delivery

  • Liaise with Contracts colleagues to seek approval on the commercial content and terms and conditions of supplier quotations and proposals

  • Prepare and place standard Purchase Orders

  • Receive and track Supplier acknowledgements of accepted orders/contracts

  • Monitor purchase orders/sub-contracts for compliance with contracted delivery schedules

  • Track orders and progress chase with suppliers

  • Monitor supplier performance on a regular basis; as a minimum undertaking a bi-annual review of the key partners in accordance with Northrop Grumman policy

  • Highlight and/or escalate any supplier delinquency which could give rise to risks to the Company meeting its contractual obligations

  • Ensure onward referral and escalation of any issues requiring senior management involvement

  • Review and comment on the company’s procurement procedures and templates for continuous improvement purposes

  • Carry out other ad-hoc tasks that may reasonably be required

General Operational duties

  • Attend Business Management department meetings as required

  • Remain compliant with all applicable Business Management and Command Media Processes and procedures

  • Understand and conform to Northrop Grumman's ethical policies, Standards of Business Conduct and quality management policies and procedures

Other requirements

  • Travel requirements: UK travel required to attend team and customer meetings. Occasional international travel may be required. Valid UK driving licence and passport.

  • Clearance requirements: The post-holder must hold or be able to obtain and maintain UK Government clearances

  • Working hours: some additional hours required from time-to-time to meet deadlines
