Job Description

The Infrastructure Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of networks and system administration in the UK and the EMEA region. Infrastructure environments may include on premise, hosted cloud-based solutions. This is a management role that encompasses both network and system administration team members.

How you will make a difference

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the planning and development of the overall service
  • Deliver architecture design tasks to a high degree of quality/accuracy within agreed time frames
  • Provide technical direction for infrastructure solutions, design and build components
  • Participate as directed by the EMEA IT Solutions Manager in rosters and other arrangements necessary for the delivery of the 24/7 service, and provide on-call service and 3rd line support
  • Day-to-day line management of the network and system administrator team including, appraisal and resource planning, coaching, mentoring and training team members
  • Work with the EMEA IT Solutions Manager to monitor the progress of staff and assess staff member training needs
  • Generate reports /statistics as needed, developing and reporting on KPIs of key infrastructure services
  • Follow, maintain & disseminate all Northrop Grumman approved policies and procedures, including adherence to ISO20000 & SO27001 standards, making recommendations on process improvements
  • Take ownership of and effectively resolve all escalated support calls within SLA/OLA guidelines
  • Proactively monitor systems using the Enterprise tools to ensure uptime
  • Manage business impact analysis for Tier 1 systems Disaster Recovery solution development, planning, implementation & testing at the required intervals to ensure Information Systems Continuity
  • Act as an SME for infrastructure and take responsibility for developing and maintaining the hosted and managed platform, including compliance, governance and technology road maps

 

 

General Operational duties

  • Attend IT department meetings as required
  • Remain compliant with all applicable IT Processes and procedures
  • Support the EMEA IT Solutions Manager in developing and growing a professional and engaged team

     

    General Line Management duties

    • Understand and apply all policies, processes and procedures around people management, compliance and governance

     

    Person Specification

    Essential Qualifications/Experience

    • Evidenced track record of successfully leading and developing a multi-disciplined team
  • Extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Previous experience managing and designing networks for medium-to-large enterprises
  • Configuration and administration experience in Cisco ASA Firewalls, Cisco Switches, Cisco Routers and Cisco Access Control System
  • Experience in the configuration and administration of F5 load balancers and Citrix Netscalers
  • Hardware, software and network connection troubleshooting experience
  • Experience of working to ISO20000 & ISO27001

 

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • CCIE accreditation
  • MCSA Qualified (MCSE would be advantageous)
  • ITIL certified
  • Experience working with:
    • Cloud solutions: SaaS, IaaS, Hybrid Cloud
    • Cisco Data Centre products: UCS, Nexus
    • Storage: EMC SAN Storage
    • Hypervisor: vSphere, Hyper-V
  • Domain Services experience, particularly Active Directory, DNS, DHCP
  • Citrix XenAppand XenDesktop
  • Active Directory Federated Trusts experience
  • Clustering experience

Other requirements

Travel requirements: Regular UK travel to meetings, the Data centre, attend incidents, training activities and conferences. Valid UK driving licence.
