Northrop Grumman are currently seeking an Senior Communications Specialist for a permanent role based in London.
 

The role of Senior Communications Specialist is to lead both the internal and digital communications activities in support of the company’s business objectives in the United Kingdom and EMEA markets.

How you will make a difference

Key Responsibilities        

  • Work collaboratively with Corporate Communications and Sector Strategic Communications to deliver effective business communications 
  • Provide communications advice and support to the country’s chief executive, local London-based business leaders and the Group Director
  •  Lead on enterprise communications activities
  • Partner with senior management and internal stakeholders to develop appropriate strategic and tactical communication strategies to drive engagement and message visibility within the UK/EMEA workforce
  • Develop messaging, content and tools for employees so they may connect with and understand the Northrop Grumman brand, values, and key business strategies and initiatives
  • Manage social and digital content
  • Develop creative content for a variety of company social media channels; measure engagement of social media content
  • Develop and oversee internet and intranet content related to the region
  • Support talent acquisition activities in partnership with the Human Resources team
  • Provide general communications support as needed
  • Partner with senior management and other stakeholders in support of external communications strategies
  • Write and edit talking points, speeches and other materials for the Country Chief Executive and the Group Director
  • Assist other members of the Communications team with internal and external-facing activities as required
General Operational duties
  • Attend Communications department meetings
  • Support the Senior Strategic Marketing & Communications Manager in developing and growing a professional and engaging service

 

Person Specification

Essential qualifications & experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in marketing communications or equivalent experience in a senior communications-based role
    Professional marketing qualification, such as a CIM Diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in communications strategy and implementation
  • Proven record of working under limited direction to fulfil role requirements
  • Event management & campaign planning experience, particularly across social media and other digital channels
  • PR and media relations experience
  • Experience working in large, matrixed and/or geographically-dispersed organisations
 
 
Preferred qualifications & experience
Defence and/or technology industry experience preferred but not essential

 

Competency/Skill requirements

  • Fluent in spoken and written English, with strong copy-writing and editing skills
  • Clear knowledge of AP Style and proficient user of Microsoft Office apps
  • Able to think strategically and present ideas clearly and persuasively
  • Advanced user of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and Instagram) as well as third-party social media listening tools (Sprinklr, Sprout, etc.)
  • Proficient at multi-tasking on competing priorities, working under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Adaptable in a changing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal-relationship and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with and gain consensus from a wide and diverse range of stakeholders internally and externally at all levels of seniority
  •  Competent and confident working autonomously and collaboratively in team environments
  • Competent in PowerPoint and face-to-face presentation delivery
  • Highly-organised with a strong attention to detail
  • An extremely engaging 'can do' attitude

 

Other requirements

  • Travel requirements: UK travel is required to support other sites to perform role duties, attend meetings and conferences and undertake project activities as and when required. Occasional international travel.
  • Valid UK driving licence and passport
  • Clearance requirements: The post-holder must hold and maintain UK Government clearance
