International Trade Compliance (ITC) Officer

How you will make a difference
The primary purpose of this job is to assist the Northrop Grumman UK Ltd (NGUKL) appointed International Trade Compliance Managers (ITCMs) with the following tasks…
  • Obtaining UK export licenses.
  • The tracking of UK licenses and US authorisations usage to ensure continued deliveries by the Chester business.
  • Maintaining and updating a database of all UK export licences and US export authorisations for the business.
  • Exporting and importing to and from the UK ensuring UK agency and NG ITC requirements are met.
  • The preparation of shipping invoices, documentation and assisting with coordinating movements in/out of the UK with the designated freight forwarder/customs broker agent.
  • Assist with the preparation of UK domestic shipping documentation, arranging shipping and coordinating movements.
  • Conducting visitor and supplier Denied Party Screening (DPS) transactions.
  • Maintaining DPS records for all current and new suppliers of NGUKL Chester.
  • Maintaining local export and import communication and compliance records for the Chester UK exports and imports.
  • Assist with HMRC and Export Control Joint Unit (ECJU) audits of the NGUKL Chester facility.
  • Support the NGUKL ITCMs in organising and providing training.
  • Seek guidance or instruction from the NGUKL ITCMs for any concerns regarding non-compliance with international trade standards, processes and procedures.
  • Seek guidance or instruction from the NGUKL Chester ITCO for any matter involving interpretation of regional and U.S. laws and regulations governing international trade.
  • Undertake any other reasonable task as requested.

Key criteria required...                            

  • Organized with an attention to detail.
  • Good communicator.
  • Experience of working in an international trading environment.
  • Shipping of military hardware or other goods that require licencing or additional authorisations.
  • A basic understanding and involvement with exporting and / or importing into or from the UK.
  • IT literate with a demonstrable competency of Microsoft Office in particular Excel and Word.
  • Seeking career progression within the ITC community.
  • Ability to travel and attend Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Training and support ITC meetings, FORUMS etc.
