Are you a driven Linux Systems Administrator looking for an opportunity to develop your skills and build expertise within an agile delivery team?

We have an immediate opportunity for a Senior Linux System Administrator based in our London office, with experience across a number of infrastructure solutions and a proven record of systems administration and maintenance.

How you will make a difference

Northrop Grumman requires an experienced Linux Systems Administrator with a broad range of skills and experience to join an agile team that designs, builds, operates and supports applications running within Linux systems environments.

Role Responsibilities…

  • Monitor incidents raised by the helpdesk, ensure correct assignment and resolve incidents where appropriate;
  • Manage the escalation and communication of incidents to vendor support as required;
  • Support the Service Managers and Commercial Teams with supplier management and SLA’s;
  • Monitor performance of the environment and highlight improvements;
  • Ownership of application patching process in line with security obligations;
  • Review and ownership of documentation.

Key Technical Skills…

  • 3+ years industry experience in a Linux Administrator role or Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification;
  • Experience or knowledge of either Red Hat Enterprise Linux or CentOS 6 & 7;
  • Experience of installing, upgrading and troubleshooting Java based applications;
  • Experience of Linux server Active Directory Integration;
  • Experience of creating, signing and integrating SSL Certificates;
  • Experience or knowledge of Cloudera or Hadoop administration;
  • Knowledge of Kerberos Authentication;
  • Knowledge of core Networking Principals.

 

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Linux certifications, such as LINUX+, RHCSA, RHCE, LFCS, LFCE or LPI1-3;
  • Hadoop Certification through Cloudera, Hortonworks, IBM or other body;
  • Experience or knowledge in some of the following:
    • Windows Administration
    • Scripting in Bash, PowerShell or Python
    • Databases (Oracle, SQL, Postgres, MongoDB)
    • Configuration & Change Management
    • Atlassian Toolset
    • Java
    • JavaScript
    • GIS
    • Docker
    • AWS
    • VMWare
    • DevOps principles and working practices.
  • Experience of working with UK government desirable.

Candidates will not be expected to have in-depth experience in all these areas but will need to show an aptitude for understanding the broad areas and knowing how to research and resolve problems if the required knowledge is not known. Being able to work in an evolving environment where the activities are a blend of problem solving, maintenance, support and projects will be essential.
