Lead Software Engineer (Java/Python)

 Are you a Software Engineer who has experience working across Cyber Security?
 
Are you looking for a contract position and have hands on technical experience with Java and/or Python?  

Due to the success of a number of strategic Gloucestershire based programmes, we are growing our Software Development team with creative and dynamic Software Engineers.

How you will make a difference

Primarily working with the Product Team that is responsible for a suite of Command and Control software applications. Your position is operational within a broad range of architectures, by a number of customers, in countries throughout the world and is used for; military operations, homeland defence, crisis management and conflict resolution.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Be responsible for complete work package or development activity.
  • Assist with Requirements Analysis and Definition.
  • Understand the scope of the customer requirements, and assist in identifying if software design meets or is exceeding the requirement.
  • Identify changes to requirements which may provide an opportunity for additional stretch proposals.
  • Take charge in the maintenance of the project development environment.

Key criteria required...

  • Strong Java & Python development experience.
  • Strong Linux experience (CentOS especially useful)
  • Experience in design, development, test and integration of quality software
  • Experience of leading small software development projects /teams.

Also, we’d love it if you have experience of...

  • Experience of UK Government working practices.
  • Experience of Django, MySQL, Jenkins, Bamboo, React, Angular, Git, Bitbucket
  • Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, and use of Confluence, Jira and Wiki’s.
  • Experience with open source products, e.g. Apache Foundation products
