Lead Software Engineer

Due to the success of a number of strategic Gloucestershire based programmes, we are growing our Software Development team with creative and ambitious Software Engineers.

This role is for a Lead Software Engineer whose primary focus will be working with the Product Team across a variety of technologies.

How you will make a difference

You will have the opportunity to support our  Product Team that is responsible for a suite of Command and Control software applications. This software is operational within a broad range of architectures, by a number of customers, in countries throughout the world and is used for; military operations, homeland defence, crisis management and conflict resolution.


Key Skills and Capabilities:

  • Be responsible for complete work package or development activity.
  • Assist with Requirements Analysis and Definition.
  • Understand the scope of the customer requirements, and assist in identifying if software design meets or is exceeding the requirement.
  • Identify changes to requirements which may provide an opportunity for additional stretch proposals.
  • Assist with the set up/design of a project's software and hardware development environment.
  • Take charge in the maintenance of the project development environment.
  • Provide technical assistance to Sales and Bid teams, particularly in supporting the preparation of bids, and assisting with customer demonstrations.
Key Criteria: 
 • Strong Python, PHP, / Web tool Development experience.
Experience of performing software analysis using IDA Pro.
Experience across diverse programming languages, such as: C and assembler.
Experience of both Linux/CentOS and Windows Operating Systems.
Experience in design, development, test and integration of quality software
Experience of leading small software development projects /teams.
Keen to learn a broad range of technologies.
We would also love it if you have: 
  •  Current UK Government clearance.
    Experience of UK Government working practices.
    Working knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies, and use of Confluence, Jira and Wiki’s.
    Experience with open source products, e.g. Apache Foundation products
